Buddha’s Bazaar /// Marketing
Here’s a cool one I did for my job. They let me do a lot of awesome, random things in our marketing realm and one of my ideas was to have this promo for a fake death metal album for our brand, Buddha’s Bazaar.
I wanted to see if there was a niche within our demographic that was into this sort of thing, or at the very least this genre of music. I worked up this really nasty-looking variant logo that I could use for the project. I used to do a lot of logo work for local bands back in high school, so it was cool to tread that ground again. I came up with a few goofy track names like “Making Shatter in Grandma’s Bedpan” and “This Crematorium Smells Like Sage”, then wrote and recorded a few 10-second metal tracks to be used in the video feature.
I tried remembering all of those sampler CDs you would get in magazines like Revolver or whatever and taking some inspiration from those. Just based on memory, though. I didn’t actually look up what they looked like. I wanted it to be very grungy and gritty and to be very overstimulating. I also threw in a few funny little things to add more humor to the whole thing.
